Questions to Ask During Your Root Canal Appointment

December 30, 2022

Patients who are concerned about the procedure are often full of questions. Communication is a great way we help our patients feel more relaxed.

Dr. Penney and the rest of the team is here to answer all your questions about your root canal. Here are a few things you can ask about your specific procedure.

1. What kind of pain will I experience?

Root canals are virtually painless. Today’s high-tech, dental technology allows Dr. Penney to perform a root canal with minimal disruption to the tooth. However, as your body heals from the root canal, you may feel some discomfort.

You can read about the pain after a root canal online, but you will feel much more assured hearing about your specific situation from Dr. Penney. The more you know about your procedure, the better equipped you are to recover properly. We’ll explain — and write down instructions for — pain medications that will help with any discomfort during your recovery.

2. Are you a good endodontist?

It might feel like an odd question. Most of our patients are referred to our office by their general dentist. They are not familiar with our team. We understand. Your first experience with any medical professional comes with quite the array of concerns.

While no one can form your opinion. We can help put your mind at ease with some reviews from our other patients. You can also check out Dr. Penney’s certifications here.

TL:DR.

Dr. Penney is a Little Rock native. He attended UCA in 1988 and got his DDS at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis in 1992. Endodontics has been Dr. Penney’s main practice since 1994. As the world of endodontics advances, he continues to learn and often teaches on the subject.

3. If I have a complaint, where can I submit it?

Years of experience and education aren’t the only thing an endodontist needs to practice good endodontics. We also need to learn from our patients. We want to make sure we are creating a welcoming environment. Our patients comfort is our top priority. If you have any feedback — good or bad, please leave a review on our Facebook page.
