At James A. Penney, III, DDS, PA Endodontics we recommend that all patients eat a full breakfast or lunch, as applicable, before their appointment. Why? You’ll be undergoing treatment for one to three hours. We also don’t recommend eating immediately after your appointment. You’ll have to wait until the numbness has worn off.

What is a good breakfast? Here are a few tips.
Have a Breakfast Ready to Go.
If your mornings are a little less about greeting the sunrise with a cup of coffee and more about rushing out the door, you should plan ahead for breakfast. Have a breakfast ready the same way you would pack a lunch.
Make sure your Breakfast has all the Nutrients you Need.
Your breakfast needs to have enough protein, fiber, fat, and carbs to get you to lunch. A healthy breakfast doesn’t leave you feeling hungry after a few hours. That doesn’t mean you need to take the time to prepare a full course breakfast before you leave the house. With the healthy food options we have today, finding the right, fast breakfast for you won’t be too hard.
Choose a grab-and-go breakfast that has plenty of protein. Protein takes longer to digest. This makes you feel full longer. Your breakfast should be around 300 to 400 calories total.
Speaking of feeling full, don’t forget about fiber. Breakfast is the best meal of the day for fiber. Choose cereals that are high in fiber and low in sugar. Ground chia seeds and flax seeds are an excellent source of fiber.
Make your Breakfast Delicious.
Start your day with a breakfast you can look forward to. Here are a few ideas of delicious, nutritional foods that are great for breakfast.
- Raspberries. Really, berries of any kind are an excellent addition to your breakfast. Choose your favorite.
- Oatmeal. Oatmeal is a great source of protein, fiber, and nutrient-filled calories.
- Yogurt. Many enjoy yogurt for breakfast. Add granola, fruit, and more.
- Peanut Butter. Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein and your daily intake of monounsaturated fats.
